Thanks to the first Networking that was held last week in Loja, we had the opportunity to hear from our best representative, Joaquín A. Conde, financial director, how Apolo’s company philosophy is lived from the inside. Networking, which is a grouping of different representatives of local companies, allows us, which we celebrate, to know the modus operandi of the different companies and to create a space where everything that can be shared or agreed among the businessmen is done.
What defines us
Nowadays, the culture of entrepreneurship is very broad in all sectors of society. Spanish society, since the country’s incursion into the European Union, is much more aware of its real situation and has less complex to make decisions. Apolo defines itself as an entrepreneurial project, not so much because it was born as such, but because it continues to be entrepreneurial today.
Our history
An entrepreneurial project is always born taking risks and Apolo was no exception. In 1963, when Apolo was born as a company, it was created by Apolonio Alcaide and Ana Ávila, a newly married couple who bet on frozen foods. In the 1960s, frozen foods were a gamble and there were moments of doubt when they considered closing the company. The experts, however, advised them to stay open, because frozen foods would be the future.
After people learned that the crew of the spacecraft that took the first humans to the moon ate frozen food, frozen food began to become popular in the United States. It would take time to reach Spain, but it would finally happen.
Continuous evolution
The philosophy that sets Apolo apart from the rest is to continue to preserve the entrepreneurial spirit that makes a person start a business. This means that at Apollo we have dreams. We enjoy our present, what we see we have, and all that has been built with the work and effort of so many people. We enjoy the history of the brand. But if we at Apollo were lucky or unlucky enough to only enjoy what already exists, we would not be able to continue to evolve.
Apollo is that man/woman who continues to surprise his or her partner after a marriage, which in this case is now 54 years old.
The future of Apollo
Because of our history and what we owe to the entrepreneurial mentality and risk, at Apolo we are admirers of these philosophies, especially when there is an effort behind backing certain ideas. Where will our mentality and effort take us now that we have great possibilities to maneuver?
Apolo’s future lies in opening horizons, in reaching the whole world from Loja. Today we export many of our products abroad. We need to work on getting a good product that we can export easily, that we can be proud of. And continue working to respect the philosophy that has made this company great.
