HISTORY of Mariscos Apolo
We tell you the history of Mariscos Apolo, our company. It was in 1963 when Congelados Apolo was born with an exciting project, founded by Apolonio Alcaide and Ana Ávila.
1963
BIRTH
“Congelados Apolo was born in Loja, the most important town in the west of Granada, in 1963, as an exciting project conceived by a young newlywed couple, Apolonio Alcaide and Ana Ávila”.
1982
CONSOLIDATION
Arrival of the new generation of the family to the company. Consolidating the project and promoting a change of mentality and a dynamization of the activity. The importation of products and the elaboration of products under the Apolo brand begins.
1984
DISTRIBUTION BEGINS
In 1984 we bought our first truck, a second hand truck that we bought from Pollos Arenas. With this first truck we started to distribute our products.
2007
modernization of facilities
In 2007 we expanded and modernized our facilities to improve our offices, warehouses and the processing room for our Apolo products.
1990
move to the manzanil i industrial park
In 1990 we moved to a new warehouse located in Polígono Manzanil I to offer a better service. In this way, we increased our storage and production capacity.
1989
first import container
In 1989 we carried out the first product import operation in Congelados Apolo from Colombia. It was a container of shrimp.
2010
first year as exhibitors in conxemar
In 2010 we started to show Congelados Apolo in one of the most important international fairs of the frozen sector, Conxemar, in Vigo. Since this year, Conxemar has become an unmissable event for our company. Thanks to our participation in this fair we have been able to close important deals.
2013
50TH ANNIVERSARY OF CONGELADOS APOLO
In June 2013 we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company. A day of coexistence with the whole Apolo family.
2017
iNAUGURATION OF NEW FACILITIES
Congelados Apolo inaugurates its new facilities located in Polígono Manzanil II in Loja, Granada. 5,000 m2 of facilities destined for storage, logistics and company offices. In the new facilities, 1,500 m2 are occupied by the cold storage with the latest technology and capacity for 22,000.
2019
Installation of solar panels and vehicle fleet
In order to reduce our environmental impact to the minimum possible, we have installed solar panels on the roof of our facilities, specifically on the roof of the processing hall. In addition, 2 trucks and a commercial vehicle have been purchased.
2018
Purchase of a fleet of vehicles
Acquisition of 2 commercial vehicles and 1 truck to incorporate to our vehicle fleet.
2017
1ST EXPORT
In this year we started to boost the export of our products abroad via sea. In 2017 we signed a collaboration agreement with an important company in Guinea, to which we have been supplying Apollo products since that date for distribution in the region.
2020
Freezer tank and fleet of vehicles.
For the proper functioning of the food chain, the purchase of a new freezing tank has been carried out. We also incorporated the purchase of 2 commercial vehicles and 1 truck.
2021
Remodeling
Remodeling of octopus processing rooms, manufacturing floor and installation of solar panels in the logistics center.
2022
Vehicle fleet
Purchase of 2 commercial vehicles, 1 rigid truck and 1 trailer to improve transportation.
