It is perhaps one of the most popular seafoods in the world and one of the main inhabitants of the Spanish coasts. A swimming crustacean par excellence, the shrimp remains inactive for a large part of the day. Thus, during sunlight hours it is buried under the sand and at night it comes out to look for food.

How to differentiate it from shrimp?

Physically, we can distinguish the shrimp from the prawn or shrimp by having a paler pink color -almost whitish-, elongated antennae and 10 legs (decapod). In addition, within this species, males and females are easily differentiated. The former are larger (10 to 15 centimeters) and pinkish in color, while the females are smaller and have a more yellowish appearance.
