Catering, the big fish in the hospitality industry

Cáterin is the word offered by the Royal Academy for the sector that everyone writes “catering”. It would take another Antonio de Lebrija for all the neologisms and anglicisms that we still don’t know how to deal with. Anyway, today we will talk about this sector that is growing so much in Spain. There are certain particularities in it, let’s see what they are about.

The growth of the sector

For some time now there has been talk that the catering sector is growing exponentially. In the previous year it achieved almost 4% growth over the previous year’s data. This amounted to an increase of around 3.5 million euros. It was also the third consecutive year with growth. On top of all this, this year is also expected to end with a continuation of such optimistic data.

Large companies have benefited the most from the growth, and the catering sector has become a kind of ‘Champions League’ of the hotel and catering industry.

The law of the jungle

It happens that in some professional sectors, as in nature, the law of the jungle prevails. In the catering sector there is a very exposed competition in which few companies end up surviving. A special competition, also much sought after by companies that are sometimes able to observe more exhaustively what the different catering companies are able to offer.

In this jungle, strength is not measured by the aggressiveness or the power of anyone’s paws. It is the products, the prices and the working methods that end up imposing themselves in a sector that does not stop offering guarantees. However it may be, from Mariscos Apolo we can only be grateful for a situation like this in which jobs are created for thousands of families.
